On December 28, 2006, as provided in the Notice to the Class, the Alameda County Superior Court (Judge Sabraw) held a hearing and approved in all respects the proposed class action settlement. At the conclusion of the hearing, the Superior Court entered its Order And Judgment which approved the settlement and also approved the request of Class Counsel for an award of attorneys' fees of $5,449,500.00 ( this sum represented a multiplier of less than 2.0 of the total amount of fees incurred by Class Counsel ) , plus litigation expenses and costs of $255,500.00, and aggregate incentive compensation for the three Plaintiffs in the total amount of $45,000.00, representing the total of $5,750,000 , the sum which Honda had agreed to pay after mediation with retired California Court of Appeal Justice Howard B. Wiener. The full copy of the Superior Court's Order of December 28, 2006 is now posted on this website and all interested parties are encouraged to review that Order.
